- I just returned from the What’s Next Boomer Summit and the American Society on Aging conference. Sessions covered the latest studies and had premiere experts on all aspects of life as a boomer and senior: housing, 50+ technology and entrepreneurism, caregiving, work, retirement, livable communities–and scores more. They offered smart advice and important resources.
- Here are a few takeaways:
- Big companies (at last!), including Johnson & Johnson and United Healthcare want to help caregivers and have launched/are launching sites to help adult children and seniors. Add that to AARP’s rich resources and so many others. A relatively new one: GreatCall’s Family Caregiver Council website.
- At the conference, AARP and government experts discussed policy and the uncertainty of funding for social service programs under the new administration. That includes mental health, kids, seniors, the poor, work and so much more.
- One topic that came up repeatedly: the health effects of loneliness and social isolation. I will be writing about this more.
It was a great gathering of experts and worker bees passionate about making aging better, richer and easier.
